Event Details

Families with children ages 8 - 15 are invited to join us for an interactive, virtual author study hosted by Newbery Award winning author Kwame Alexander (The Crossover, J vs. K, How to Write a Poem and more).

During the 45-minute virtual livestream that starts at 1:00PM, children learn directly from a celebrated, published author. The session will include...

  • A book talk and read-aloud from a favorite book
  • A brief writing craft lesson
  • A conversation with special guest author Alan Gratz, with time for questions from students
  • A live Q&A session with Kwame, taking select questions from attendees in the chat.

AUTHOR STUDY is presented by ONE WORD AT A TIME, a literacy nonprofit organization founded by Kwame Alexander whose mission is to advance students' literacy through fun, educational engagements with authors and by nurturing a joyful reading and writing community.
