Discover the Dragon

Come discover one of our local wonders and learn about the importance of it's future preservation.

Were you aware of a hidden gem located on the border of Essex County, an area of such importance it was ranked as second in ecological significance among 232 other areas studied by the Smithsonian?  Come meet the Dragon Run.  This 40 mile span is considered one of Virginia's most pristine blackwater streams. The stream runs along Essex, King & Queen, Middlesex and Gloucester as it weaves its way through a pristine, nearly untouched path filled with thriving flora and fauna and a variety of wildlife species.  Jeff Wright, President of the Friends of the Dragon Run, will lead us on a journey of discovery via a presentation describing some of the wonders that are found along the Dragon Run and in the Dragon Swamp.

This will be an educational presentation for all ages who are interested in learning more about the Dragon Run watershed.
